What We Do

Little Oaks follows the broad strokes of the Creative Curriculum and the Louisiana Department of Education Developmental Standards. To this framework, we add the experience and materials developed over forty years of educating and caring for young children. We address all domains of development — Cognitive, Creative Expression, Gross and Fine Motor, Language and Literacy, and Social and Emotional.

We believe in active learning through play and exploration. The majority of our learning is by teacher interaction with individuals and small groups. In a theme-based, enriched environment, the children chooses their activities, and the teachers move among them, expanding the experience.

All ages follow the same approach, although the materials, techniques, organization, and goals vary with developmental level.
